Still, I'll assume that this is a first effort and will certainly give T.L. Haddix another test drive if the story in the next book appeals to me. Keep at it! review 2: stars. Secrets in the Shadows was an ok read. This book was not my usual cup of tea, but I liked the build up and the twists, which were pretty obv. · The problem with publishing under the Alex Collins name was always that the Shadows Collection existed. The idea of splitting the two main series T. L. Haddix has written is something that never occurred to me, even though I thought it would make more sense to have the Shadows Collection under Amelia’s name than my own. Once again, T.L. Haddix has woven an entertaining mystery throughout the romance - and I recommend it highly. I think out of all the books in T.L. Haddix's 'Leroy' series, this would be my absolute favorite, but I'm a sucker for an older man/younger woman romance.4/5.
